Productivity: How to maximize and get things DONE

Monday can be a day where you are feeling refreshed and wanting to take on the week. Having the weekend to recharge and regroup can help you feel motivated to make goals and get things done.

Being productive can be super important in today’s fast-paced world in both your career and personal life. Productivity can increase when you make goals and work towards them.

Here are some steps you can take to help maximize your productivity and get things DONE!. Write these down and start implementing them in your daily routine.

  • Set Clear Goals & Priorities – Identify what you want to accomplish and break it down into smaller manageable tasks. It is easier to stay on track when you have small tasks and you can get a feeling of accomplishment after finishing each one. This will keep you motivated to keep going.
  • Plan your Day – Create a to-do list or use a productivity app to schedule tasks and allocate time for each of them. Use a planner to write in, or an app on your phone. I personally recommend a physical planner or journal to help stay focused when planning. Apps can lead to other distractions on your phone.
  • Eliminate Distractions – Distractions can be a real productivity killer. Identify your biggest distractions and eliminate them as much as possible. Things like turning off phone notifications and closing your email can be a big help.
  • Take Breaks – It might sound counter productive, but stepping away from your desk is essential to maintaining productivity. Short breaks every hour can help you stay focused and motivated and avoid burnout. Use this break time to stretch, refill your water bottle, go for a walk, go outside etc.
  • Prioritize self-care – Taking care of your physical and mental health will ensure you feel energized and focused. Do so by getting enough sleep, choosing healthier food options when possible, moving in a way that you enjoy, and taking time to yourself for relaxation.

Maximizing productivity can be a challenge, however it will get you achieving your goals. Use these steps everyday. Remember it doesn’t have to be big changes all at once. Starting with small changes are moving you in the right direction and will help keep you consistent. Trying to change too fast can lead you back to your old routine.
