To be honest, I struggle with this. I don’t really know what success means for me, I don’t know what it looks at for me. I think this is because I have never really sat down and thought about what I really want. I haven’t take the time to visualize what success looks like for me. Is it where I am now? or it is where I am in the future? Let’s work on this together.
Create a mental visual story – close your eyes, and start visualizing a success story for yourself. Pay attention to any sounds, sights, smells, and emotions that start guiding you to your success. What does the journey start to look like, what obstacles are you overcoming and what effort are you putting in. What does your visual story start to look like.
Engage your senses – once a vision starts to make shape, picture how you engage in that success. How do you see yourself walking, talking, what is your body language, what emotions come out.
Overcome obstacles – now that you see yourself in your successful environment, think of what potential challenges could develop. Do not be discouraged about these challenges, we are just bringing awareness that there will be growth during this process. This is preparing you for your journey and will help you be able to deal with challenges as they come up. They might not be the exact ones you have visualized, however they will be ones you mentally prepared for and can conquer.
Confidence & Motivation – if you did not visualize this in the Engage in your senses stage, this is the time to visualize increased confidence and motivation. Imagine yourself succeeding and believe in your abilities to do so. Heightened awareness directly impacts your motivation, as you’ll be more willing to put in the effort required to achieve your goals.
Be consistent – Visualize your daily practices that you are going to incorporate. Feel what emotions you feel when you see yourself achieving these daily.
Feel your emotions – visualize and feel your emotions. What to you feel when you think of your journey ahead? Take time to feel each emotion that pops up. These can be uncomfortable at times, but it is those emotions that will help you grow, so don’t overlook them.
Combine your visual story and actions – You have been successful in creating a visual journey for yourself. It is time to actually turn that into a action. This will be where the work comes in. Take little steps at first.
Use your visualizations to fuel your journey to what success looks for you. Whenever you feel like you are falling off track, stop, and take the time to close your eyes again and visualize your success. At times you might notice that your visualizations change, and that is okay. That is you growing and learning more about what success looks like for you.
I will take some time to work through this, and I hope you do as well.
Be kind to yourself.
