Your Fitness Journey: Tips for a Successful Fitness Tuesday

Happy Fitness Tuesday! Dedicate today to focus on your physical health.

Make a Goal for Today – Increase your daily step count, complete a challenging workout, or actually stretch (we all know we don’t do it enough..guilty).

Try a New Workout – Sometimes we continue to do the same things, because it is familiar and comfortable. Today…don’t do that. Try a new workout routine or exercise class. Do some high-intensity interval training (HIIT) session, a yoga class, or a nature hike. Whatever it is, make sure it is out of your comfort zone. Today mine was doing pulls ups using a dip bar (lay on floor and grip the bar and pull yourself up)

Hydrate Yourself – We all know most times we are not drinking enough water throughout the day. Ensure you are drinking before, during and after your workout today. Continue your hydration throughout the day, and if forget like I do, try to keep your bottle on your desk to remind you take a sip.

Level up your Nutrition – This doesn’t mean go all crazy and revamp your whole meal plan today. However, add something new or boost that veggie intake. Avoid excessive processed foods, sugary snacks, and empty calories. Consider having a protein-packed post-workout meal to aid muscle recovery. Again, remember it doesn’t have to be a big change today, just a little step. Mine today is going to be adding more veggies to my dinner.

Get adequate rest – Don’t underestimate the importance of rest and recovery. Schedule enough time for quality sleep, especially the night before your Fitness Tuesday. Sleep is when your body repairs and rejuvenates itself. Sleep not only helps your muscles but also your brain and immune system. I ensure my phone is off at least 30 minutes before I go to bed.

Make Fitness Tuesday work for you. Make it a day you look forward to. Make it a routine that you love doing. Make each Tuesday a stepping stone toward a healthier and happier you.

be kind to yourself.
