The Art of Doing Nothing – Take that guilt free day

We live in a time where we seem to celebrate hustle and productivity and punish ourselves for taking a day to relax and do nothing.

Due to hectic schedules taking a day off may seem like a luxury. But I have a secret for you. You are in control of your schedule more than you think you are.

Taking a day to do nothing is not a luxury, it is a necessity.

Rest to Rejuvenate – Our minds need moments of stillness and relaxation to recharge. Ensure you are resting for essential mental rest.

Boost Creativity – Having a day with no planning can help spark creativity. It allows the mind and brain to rest allowing for new ideas to flow in.

Stress Reduction – Stress truly is a epidemic in our society. A guilt free day of doing nothing can significantly reduce stress levels, leading to better mental and emotional health.

Now schedule the day on your calendar like you would every other important day. Do not book appointments or events on this day.

You may feel bored at first and that’s okay. Your body is probably not used to taking time to itself. Fill your day with leisure activities like reading, walking, movie watching etc.

Practice Mindfulness on this day. Pay attention to the day, how your body feels, the sensations you feel etc.

If you start to feel guilty for feeling like you are not doing anything productive or wasting the day away, remind yourself it is okay and the break is essential.

A day of doing nothing is not a waste of time; it’s an investment in your well-being. It’s a reminder that you are not a machine but a human being with emotions, needs, and desires. So, embrace the art of doing nothing. In a world that never stops, allowing yourself a moment to pause can be one of the most rewarding things you do.

Be kind to yourself.
