I have a love hate relationship with Monday. I always wish weekends were longer but I also love using Monday as a fresh start.
Monday can be a day to set the tone for a week filled with productivity, accomplishment, and a sense of control.
What can you can do to help banish the Monday blues and have a positive attitude for the week ahead?
Prepare the night before – Take some time after dinner on Sunday to prep things you might need for Monday morning. Pack lunches, pick out your gym clothes, tidy kitchen etc. If if is work related, plan some prep time Friday before you leave for the weekend.
Start with a Morning Routine – Pick things that can be non-negotiable for you to ensure you stick to them. Something like have a coffee before the kids woke up, journal while having a tea, head to the gym, go for a walk. Ensue you make your routine enjoyable.
Create a To Do List – Prep this the night before or the Friday before or take 10 minutes to yourself in the morning. Prioritize your tasks and set achievable goals for the day.
Declutter – Clean your desk before you leave for a weekend so it’s ready first thing Monday morning. Clutter can cause unnecessary stress and anxiety, especially on Mondays. Cleaning the kitchen the night before can also help some people with Motivation. A clean start.
Set Realistic Goals – Writing 30 things down to get done Monday is more than likely not realistic. Be real. What realistically can you get done. Try to put at least one goal that you keep pushing to the back burner week after week. For me I need to drop off donation clothing that’s been sitting in bags. I will make that mine this week.
Take Short Breaks – Realistically you will probably be as little tired or overwhelmed on Monday. Regular breaks help to recharge and encourages focus.
Reflect and Adjust – At the end of Monday take some time to about your organization level. What went well and what didn’t. Did you have too many unattainable goals? Did your morning routine fall off track?. Once you reflect, adjust what didn’t work and how you can make next Monday even better.
Getting organized on a Monday isn’t merely about surviving the day; it’s about thriving throughout the week. It’s about taking control of your time, your space, and your goals. Whether you choose to embrace a morning routine, declutter your workspace, take breaks, the key is consistency. Small, intentional actions taken every Monday can lead to significant, long-term change.
